Operating Instructions Operating instructions (or OIs) are local documents that detail how our unit functions. They are issued under the authority of the Squadron Commander and give specific guidance on how we accomplish our local operations. OIs in our unit govern how cadets receive feedback, how new cadets are trained after joining CAP, how cadets are administered written examinations, and how cadets are reviewed for promotion. Any questions regarding a specific OI can be directed through the chain of command.
Policy Letters Policy letters give guidance or direction on unit-level issues, but do not intricately describe how operations are conducted. Like OIs, any questions on a specific policy can be directed through the chain of command.
